Mastering Heads Up Sit and Go Tournaments

Quite a few online poker rooms have added heads-up sit and go tournaments into there arsenal of tournament structures and it’s been taking off nicely.
A lot of poker players have been branching off into playing heads-up poker sit and go tournaments for numerous reasons.
One of the reasons why players have decided to start playing in heads-up poker sit and go tournaments is because they usually finish really quickly allowing you the chance to play more games and therefore potentially win more money.
The sit and go strategies you need to employ in order to be successful in heads-up tournaments is going to be different then any other strategies you use for other tournament structures.

Early Stages – Low Blinds (10/20-25/50)

During the initial stages of a heads-up poker tournament you want to establish the fact you’re going to be aggressive with your opponent and you also want to analyze how your opponent plays.
While the blinds are low you should push the blinds up preflop every time you have a marginal hand because in heads-up poker good cards aren’t always going to come.
You can work on stealing a lot of the early pots of your opponent by betting, but make sure when you get called or raised that you slow down and wait for the next hand.
The goal while the blinds are low is to take a nice sized chip lead on your opponent so you can better handle the increase in blinds.

Middle Stages – Medium Blinds (50/100)

The middle stage of a heads up tournament isn’t going to last long and it’s only about one blind level.
Since the blinds are now 50/100 you will need to play more cautiously with your chips because one mistake could cost you the lead at this point.
You still want to make sure you put the pressure on your opponent, but don’t raise with any two cards.
Make sure that you’re willing to play the hand if your opponent makes a re-raise on you. With the blinds now at an increased level your opponent is going to be thinking about getting his/her chips into the pot soon. If you have the chip lead the worst thing you can do is call an all-in with any type of hand, make sure you always have a good hand when your opponent is all-in unless they have 500 or less chips left.

Late Stages – High Blinds (75/150+)

If the sit and go tournament lasts this long then you have a good match going on against a tough opponent, but hopefully you have the chip lead at this point.
If you have a 2:1 chip lead on your opponent make sure you push every single pot at this stage and make your opponent go all-in on you.
The more blinds you can steal from your opponent without them calling your all-in will benefit you because when they finally do go all-in it’ll cost you less to make the call. Heads-up sit and go tournaments can take anywhere from 2+ minutes so sometimes you’re going to win some quickies and other times you’re going to lose some quickies.
If you can limit the amount of games you lose without a good fight then you should be able to win a lot more games then you lose.
With only one opponent to beat you will be able learn exactly how they play very quickly and you need to use any information they give you against them.
If you can manage to win about 70-80% of your heads-up matches you’re going to make a good amount of money and in reality you have the best chances at doing well in this style of tournament over any other.

Hollywood poker offers heads up sit and go tournaments at all levels, and it is also a great site for beginners.

SNG Strategy: How to Make the Most Money From SNGs

Sit and go tournaments, just like cash games and tournaments, provide an amicable means to making money in online poker.
The following article will provide tips and guidelines to making the most money from SNGs (Sit and Goes).

Optimizing Your Bankroll

Like any other game, SNGs have a general guideline bankroll management.
You should have enough money to cover at least 40 buyins for the type of SNG game you play (the same is true for MTT Strategy).
The number is so high in order to prevent variance and bad beats making you go bust.
Importantly, if you’re bankroll is high and you’re still playing at lower level SNGs than you could, then you’re under-utilizing your bankroll as you could be playing games with much higher returns.

Aiming for a ROI

ROI (return on investment) is a measure of how profitable you are in SNGs.
You’ll find many forum posters commenting on this.
The truth is however, a player with 50% ROI can be making much less than a player with a 20% ROI if they’re playing at different levels.
For example, obtaining a 20% ROI in $50 SNGs will make you much more money than a 50% ROI at $5 level buy-in.
My tip is to find an SNG level you are comfortable with, that matches your bankroll, and where you can be getting a return of 20% or more.
Anything less than a 20% return is usually considered not that good; however lest forget that anything 0%+ is profitable!

Change Rooms Regularly to Take Advantage of New Player Poker Bonuses

Playing poker successfully is all about maximizing money in the long run.
As such, it makes no sense at all playing SNGs at the same poker room when you can take advantage of new player deposit bonuses everytime you sign up to a new room.
Many player advocate changing rooms when your deposit bonus expires.
This is free cash your receiving – plus many poker rooms you can sign up to still operate on the same network and provide the exact same games and software.
Playing SNGs on Carbon Poker for example can just as easily be replaced with signing up to Aced on the Merge Network.
You’ll find exactly the same games, tables, software and players here, plus you can take advantage of the 100% free cash bonuses.

Earn More Profit with Multi-Tabling

Multi-tabling enables you to earn more money every hour or period you play.
For profitable players who make a positive return on investment on SNGs, their profit will be doubled if they play twice as many tables.
For example, a successful two-tabler can make twice as much if he can play four tables simultaneously instead. Although there is some contention over whether you will play just as profitably paying less attention to each game; there are plenty of professionals who’ve managed to play up to 20 tables at time at a consistent level.

PokerSite.org finally launched a long overdue full redesign of their poker site, along with a significant expansion and general improvements across the board. Although the overhaul was expected months ago, the owner of the site ran into a few problems transferring content over so the project experienced some significant delays.

Some highlights of the redesign include the new sleek, dark theme, which features a navigation bar on the right of the site, along with breadcrumb navigation conveniently placed at the top of each page. The goal of the redesigned navigation was to make it easier for players to quickly find the content they needed.

When visitors arrive at the site, they are greeted with a poker sites top list, which explains that Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet, and Absolute Poker are the best online poker sites. Also, if visitors would like more information before signing up, they can read the beefed up poker reviews that PokerSite.org offers.

One unique feature of the site is the regional poker site top lists, where players can learn about the best USA poker sites, best Canadian poker sites, best European sites, best UK sites, and best Australian sites. Each page explains why the listed sites are the best for that country, and also details online gambling law in each country.

If visitors choose to read poker site reviews, they will be privy to full reviews of fifteen different online poker sites. Each review analyzes and ranks the site based on five categories: each site’s software, promotions, games, tournaments, and rewards. According to PokerSite.org, the #1 online poker site is Full Tilt Poker.

Besides reading just straight reviews of each site, readers can also see specific top lists such as the “Softest online poker sites” and the “Poker sites with the most games”. Other top lists are game specific, such as the “Best Texas Hold’em sites” and the “Best Five Card Draw sites”.

If you are a new poker player, there is plenty to learn at PokerSite.org besides which sites are the best. The site features a full poker rules section, where players can learn the rules of games such as Texas Hold’em, Five Card Draw, and Omaha poker. Also, if you are an advanced player you can improve your game by checking out the vast poker strategy section, which offers strategy for over a half dozen games.

Owner Mike Wittmeyer had the following to say about the new version of his site:

“I’m really excited to get the new version of the site up, as PokerSite.org didn’t get much attention over the past six months. I plan on spending most of 2010 working on this site.”

To visit the site, head over to http://www.pokersite.org/.

PKR bonus code and room review

The Room

The founder of PKR, Jez San, loves to play online poker and live. But playing online he found that the conventional poker rooms missed the “live” touch of playing poker online, which he likes very much when playing poker.
That alone was the motivation to develop a poker room where players could experience what most rooms lack.
In August 2006 the beta of PKR saw the light.
With their revolutionary approach of delivering a 3D poker experience, PKR rapidly has earned his place in the poker industry.
Although the site doesn’t allow US players to share in this feast, PKR has shown a steady growth with more than 10,000 players during peak hours. This means there’s always a table free and ready to play and feel the “live” touch.
You can get PKR Poker Rakeback at pokerrakebackonline.net

Lobby

The lobby looks like some sort of videogame menu with lots of tabs.
Not surprisingly, because Jez San has earned his marks in the computer games industry.
At first the lobby may look overwhelming, but don’t let that scare you away. Take a few seconds to look carefully and you’ll notice that the lobby is actually very clear.
Every tab speaks for itself. Because PKR delivers a 3D experience, if you click on the “Me” tab, you can create your 3D personification of yourself.
By earning PKR Points you’ll be able to buy some new clothes, tattoos, accessories, you name it you can buy it.

Cashgames

PKR offers the two most popular poker games, texas holdem and Omaha. Texas holdem can be played as no limit, limit en pot limit, where omaha games are in limit and pot limit.
The stakes begin at 0,02/0,04$ for both texas holdem and omaha, and go up to 30/60$ for texas holdem and 5/10$ for omaha.
Most cash games are texas holdem in the no limit variant.
For those games you can find a lot of action almost anytime.
And not only the low stakes, action can be found up to 5/10$.
This is the result, as said, of PKR having a very steady traffic, peaking at 14000 cash players and about 8500 at average.
Because PKR feels like a computer game, players tend to accord to that and be much looser, making it an exellent site to play at when you also get poker rakeback online on top.
This gives experienced players a very big opportunity to make good use out of it and earn a lot of money.

Tournaments and Sit and Go’s

Tournaments and sit and go’s are provided at a wide variety of buyins from freerolls up to major tournaments with a 270$ buyin.
The sit and go’s come in two types, regular and turbo.
The regular has an 8-minute blind structure, where turbo blinds go up every 4 minutes.
Sit and go tournaments start at $1+0,05 and go well up to $500+20 buyin, some special satellites even got a bigger buyin or can be bought in with points.
Tournaments also come in two types, regular and turbo.
But where turbo tournaments have a 5-minute blind structure, regular tournaments differ in blind structures between 8 minutes up to 20 minutes. With so many tournaments and sit&go’s in all sorts and shapes, it isn’t hard to find one of your liking.

Tables

The layout of the tables is where PKR is all about, giving the players the experience as if they were actually sitting there.
At the bottom there are buttons for live actions and chip tricks you can perform. Cheering, nagging players, chip tricks, pkr emotes, you name it, it’s all game.
One feature of the game that can give players some extra edge is that you can actually see players look at their cards.
This can give players tells about their opponents.
It all adds up to the PKR poker experience.
For the mulitablers it’s possible to play at multiple tables, but it’s different than at most poker sites. Here your screen will be divided in one feature table and on the right thumbnails of all the tables you’re sitting at.
By clicking on one of them you’ll be automatically brought to that table. This might be a downfall for those who’d like to see all of the table’s action at all times, but it gives you the opportunity to go up in 3D experience of the feature table.

Support

Support is available 24/7 and is excellent and efficient.
For all your questions about PKR you can address them through e-mail, live chat and by phone.
You’ll get immediately help, and with their dedicated support team they’re one of the best in the industry.
The website also provides up to date information about all aspects of the room.
